Simple Energy Saving Tips

Now, more than ever, we are all looking for ways to save energy around the home, to cut down costs, and to do our bit for the planet. So, to help you out, we wanted to share some simple energy saving tips, as little things make all the difference.

Get wear out of your winter knits:

Starting off simple, wrap up a little warmer when you’re at home. Pop a on a jumper when you’re chilling in the evenings. There’s no point using extra energy to heat your house when a few extra layers from your wardrobe will do the trick.

Switch up your showerhead:

One way we all (hopefully) use energy each day is by showering. Hygiene is a must, but is there a way to save energy, while keeping your shower routine the same? There is. It’s as simple as switching to an energy efficient shower head. Water saving shower heads can reduce the amount of water you use, by up to 50% in the shower by either regulating the flow or aerating the water.

Opt for LED lightbulbs:

Another switch which is easy to make, but will make all the difference to bills, is the lightbulbs you use. Take the time to replace your lightbulbs with LED bulbs to make a saving there. Compared with conventional lightbulbs that first convert electrical energy into heat, and then into light, LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) convert electrical energy directly into light, delivering efficient light generation with little-wasted electricity.

Keep your pan lids on:

You’ll also be able to save some energy by keeping the lids on while you cook. Keeping the lid on keep the heat in the pan, where it's needed, rather than letting it escaping into the air. This reduces the amount of energy required to cook your food. It also stops you from unnecessarily heating your kitchen rather than your food making mealtimes more efficient.

Wash your clothes at a lower temperature:

Everyday activities can have an impact, you could also consider washing your clothes at a lower temperature. This extends the life of your clothes and lower your costs at the same time. Washing your clothes at a lower temperature uses less energy, as there is less heat and clothes tend to wash just as well in a slightly cooler wash, while making savings on both energy and money.
